Starting November 3, 2026, eligible Canadian work experience in a high-wage occupation may earn additional Express Entry CRS points. The 20-point tier applies when a candidate qualifies for at least 12 months of high-wage work experience at the 1.3-times-median level or higher, but does not qualify for the 40- or 70-point tier.

How much work experience is required?

Candidates need at least 12 months or 1,560 hours of qualifying Canadian work experience in one or more eligible high-wage occupations. The experience can be continuous or non-continuous, and full-time or an equivalent amount of part-time work. If someone holds multiple jobs at once, IRCC counts no more than 30 hours per week. The 20 points are additional to the CRS points for the duration of eligible Canadian work experience. The high-wage points are awarded through IRCC’s Labour Market Integration factor, which allows points for Canadian work experience or a qualifying job offer, not both.

FAQ

Does a high personal salary automatically qualify me for 20 points?
No. IRCC classifies high-wage occupations using national wage data for each NOC.

If my NOC is on the list, will I automatically receive the points?
No. You must meet the work-experience rules and the other applicable Express Entry requirements.
